Lions Club Hosts Free Medical Camp in Gorkha; 360+ Benefited

Lions Club of Indra Annapurna conducts free health and dental camp in Finam, Gorkha, over 360 citizens benefited
Finam, Gorkha Rajan Thapa With the aim of providing quality health services to rural and remote areas, a two-day free health and dental camp was conducted in Finam, Gorkha at the initiative of Lions Club of Kathmandu Indra Annapurna. The camp, which was conducted on 11th and 12th of May in collaboration with subsidiary organizations Fernut Lion Hospital and Om Samaj Dental Hospital, has directly benefited more than 360 local citizens.
The camp was coordinated by Finam Kuwapani Kathmandu Sewa Samaj, while Asian Securities Pvt. Ltd. provided financial and managerial support. The general public living in remote areas received free health check-ups, consultations, medicines and dental treatment services from specialist doctors.
The camp provided services in orthopedics, women and maternity, ear, nose and throat, general medicine, eye examination, dental treatment, nursing services and distribution of medicines. Out of the total service recipients, 138 people underwent dental examination and 31 people took dental cleaning and tooth extraction services. This has also highlighted the growing need for dental health in rural areas.
The active participation of specialist doctors made the camp effective. Orthopedic specialist Dr. Prateek Shah, gynecologist Dr. Sunita Rana, MDGP Dr. Mahesh Silwal, ENT specialist Dr. Vivek Lama and Medical Officer Dr. Niraj Kumar Sah provided health examination and consultation services. Similarly, Dr. Hari Shankar Yadav, Dr. Sudesha Adhikari, Dr. Diksha Chaudhary, Junu Pandit and Sirjana Sunuwar of Om Samaj Dental Hospital provided dental health services.
Om Samaj Dental Hospital is a socially responsible dental hospital established in Kathmandu, which has been providing affordable and quality dental treatment services targeting the poor, disadvantaged and underserved communities with the main slogan of “From Road to Home”. The hospital has been regularly conducting free and subsidized dental camps in various rural and remote places of the country. Working with social service, humanity and health awareness as its focus, this hospital aims to make dental treatment accessible to everyone.
Lions Club of Indra Annapurna President Lion Uday Prasad Bhandari, Zone Chairperson Lion Sadhuram Paudyal, Former President Lion Indra Bahadur Neupane, Lion Rajkumar Kharel, Hunger Chief Lion Balananda Khatri, Membership Committee Chairperson Lion Jin Maya Chapagain, Life Member Lion Madhu Maharjan, Secretary Lion Krishna Jung Thapa and Life Member Lion Kamala Bohara actively participated in the camp management and volunteer service. Leela Dahal, Narayan Chapagain and Himal Giri contributed to the yoga service.
90-year-old Padmakumari Thapa, 82-year-old Jhalak Bahadur Thapa and 82-year-old Narayan Bahadur Khatri, who participated in the camp, expressed gratitude to the organizers, saying that such a health camp is very useful for the elderly. The local women’s group gave a grand welcome and honored the organizers, the medical team and the guests with musical instruments.
At the program, Madan Khadka, President of Kathmandu-Finam Sewa Samaj, expressed gratitude to the Lions Club of Indra Annapurna for coming to the village and conducting a health check-up of the elderly. Rajkumar Khatri, President of Asian Securities Pvt. Ltd., said, “True service is service provided by reaching every village,” and mentioned that Om Samaj Dental Hospital is an organization dedicated to the poor and the needy.
The ward president of Finam-4 expressed gratitude to the organizers, coordinating organizations and the medical team, saying that such health camps provide great relief to the citizens of remote areas. Finam Health Post played a key role in providing the necessary materials and coordination to make the camp a success. Uday Bhandari, President of Lions Club of Indra Annapurna, expressed his commitment to continue such health and social service programs in rural and remote areas in the coming days. It was said that the camp would help in expanding access to health services.
